VIENNA, Va. — The Vienna Senators will be unable to compete for a national title, for the first time as league champion, in their franchise history. The Senators were unable to gather enough players to make a run at a post season title. The late rash of injuries that hampered the team in July was too much for the team to overcome in August. The overwhelming factor in the decision was that only twelve players remained in Vienna for a run at the title. Several players went home for the break last week and never returned.
The Senator family would like to thank the players, host families, and fans for their continued support of the ballclub.
The Senators will look forward to a strong 2010 campaign and a return to the NBC World Series in Wichita, Kansas.
